The Sacredness of Now

A pilgrimage poem by Kathryn Overall
Spring 2019. Pablacion de Campo, Spain

A hermitage in Spain

The whispering of trees

The quietness of grass

My shadow on the stone

The cooing of pigeons

The endless stretch of sky

The drowsy buzz of bees

My face in dappled sun

The scratching of my pen

The settling of my heart

The stilling of my mind

The resting of my broken places

In your gently waiting hands.
