Websites I’ve Co-Created

KO Jan 21-121.jpg

I have project managed a website refresh or do-over for nearly every client I have worked with.

As I work with business owners to reinvent their brand storytelling from the inside, inevitably their website - their home online - needs renovating to be more inviting, human-centred and story based.

My strengths lie in word-smithing, strategy, creativity and empathy-driven customer messaging. I have collaborated with website designers/developers to bring stories and messaging strategies to life.

In 2020, I taught myself how to use SquareSpace and created this website you are now reading! (Thank you lock-down).

This new skill-set enables me to offer the full package of website design, communication strategy and copywriting to people I work with. If you would like to talk with me about creating a website like this one for your project, please say hello.

In the mean-time, here is a selection of websites I have co-created in collaboration with talented colleagues and business partners over the last seven years.

JANESCE

Co-created in collaboration with designer/developer Hollie Proctor.

I had the privilege of working directly with Janine Tait on the Janesce skincare brand for over five years. In 2018 we decided it was time to give this 20+ year brand a design and messaging refresh.

I was privileged to travel with Janine to visit the founder of Janesce, Janice Sarre-Smith at Claret Ash Farm in the Adelaide Hills of Australia. Walking around the organic, bio-dynamic garden, seeing the Janesce plant concentrates maturing like fine wines in the lab and interviewing the energetic 86 year old pioneer at the heart of it all all was an immersive experience. It provided rich fodder for the new website story of a skincare range providing goodness from the soil to the skin.

Created website architecture * Developed Soil to the Skin messaging strategy * Wrote all copy * Kept customer experience at forefront of communications.

WISH YOU WERE WORKING HERE

Created in collaboration with MOCA

When I first took on the Tauranga talent-attraction site www.wishyouwereworkinghere.co.nz for Priority One in 2013, it was a brochure-style site with facts and figures about working in Tauranga. I was contracted to bring my storytelling and social marketing strengths to this initiative.

I immediately began by interviewing returned Kiwi expats who were creating a new life in Tauranga, posting stories to the Facebook page I created and grew to over 6000 followers, and sending them to the e-newsletter list we grew from the ground up.

The website called for a re-design. I created a specific brief for MOCA and we created a story-based, human-centred hub for people looking for the inside story of what is it really like to move, or return, toTauranga. I even shared my own story. In the six years I ran the campaign, these stories formed part of people’s research and influenced their decision to move to, or return home to Tauranga. In the process, it helped me fall back in love with my own home town!

BETHLEHEM EARLY LEARNING CENTRES

Created in collaboration with designer/developer Sheryl Nicholson of Huia Design.

In 2014, I took on a full re-brand and marketing strategy project for Bethlehem Early Learning Centres (BELC). This involved leading a full re-brand and logo re-design and creating a new website and marketing collateral for four early childhood centres.

The challenge with this project was that the website had to present BELC as the umbrella organisation, and effectively contain four mini websites for the individual ECE centres. I’m proud of how this website came together and the way it communicates the relational warmth at the heart of these learning environment. I focused on lead generation. Each mini-site has three touch-points, which steadily bring in new enquiries and centre visits.

Led re-brand, including tag-line development and project managing logo design. * Created website architecture. * Developed messaging strategy * Wrote all website copy * Developed and implemented a social marketing and blog content campaign to drive traffic to website.

MY DEBUT ALBUM WEBSITE

Created in collaboration with designer/developer Sheryl Nicholson.

My debut singer/songwriter album ‘Not All the Leaves Are Falling’ came out in 2016.
I was both the client and the creator in this project. I always encourage my clients to show their face, their personality, to express their values and share their story. Now I had to practice what I preached! A key part of this website project was the photography. It was a joy to work with my favourite editorial photographer, Tracy Stamatakos, who is brilliant at capturing living stories in visual moments.

Created website architecture. * Developed messaging strategy * Wrote all website copy * Art-directed (and modelled in!) photoshoot
